Hold the phone because the impossible has happened: Pete Davidson has finally moved out of his mother’s basement. Turns out the Saturday Night Live star was serious when he told Weekend Update co-host Colin Jost that he was plotting his domestic exit after all.

Davidson accidentally spilled the beans during a video call that was later uploaded to TikTok. The 27-year-old was speaking about mental health but he paused in order to find his keys and enter his abode, because he wanted to answer the question thoughtfully.

“I just moved out of my mom’s house,” he revealed. “I’m fully out, I got a pad.”

According to the New York Post, Davidson’s “pad” is a little more lavish than he let on. The publication reports that he’s actually living in a $1.2 million luxury condo high rise that he purchased just before the new year. The corner unit comes with two bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms, and overlooks the water. It’s also fairly close to the $1.3 million Staten Island home that Davidson bought with his mom back in 2016, A.K.A. the one he’s been living in until this year.

The comedian has never exactly held back about his living situation. It was just last year that he gave a hilarious tour of his basement “apartment” in a video that has since been seen more than four million times.

“I moved here like a year ago and build this weird little basement to stay the f--- away from people,” he explained to the cameras before showing off items like his dust buster, an Uncut Gems basketball, and a Shaquille O'Neal sneaker that someone sent him (which, at the time, he had stashed behind a fake alien he called Kevin).

Some fans may be surprised that Davidson finally got his own place (especially considering the comedy he mined from the living situation), but the hints were there. It was just a couple of months ago that Davidson told Jost he was flying the coop on Weekend Update, after all.

“In some ways, I like the pandemic Valentine’s [Day] because it’s the first time being alone wasn’t my fault,” he said at the time. “I spent the night eating chocolates and watching a movie with my mom, which is why I’m officially moving out of the house. I am, yeah. One of us has to go.”

With Davidson out of his mom's house, maybe now he and Bridgerton star Phoebe Dynevor, whom he’s rumoured to be dating, can spend some more alone time together. Then again, she’s filming the second season of her series in the U.K. and Davidson is still in New York.

At least now he can bring company home without having to worry about his mom awkwardly cooking upstairs though. Here’s hoping for some updates on an installment of Weekend Update soon.
