Diplo shares photo of himself and Angelina Jolie at a barbecue

There is no stranger couple than Diplo and Angelina Jolie. Well, maybe, but this is definitely one for the books in 2021. And the details, sadly, are few.

Diplo posted a bit of an odd photo of Jolie earlier this week to his Instagram stories. In that photo, Jolie appears to be in the background, with a bag of Cheetos in the foreground. Let's put it this way: it's a lot like the kind of photo you might take if you spotted a celeb out and about but were trying to be discreet. Which it seems is exactly what Diplo was doing while the pair were at the same outdoor barbecue.

The timing of the photo is interesting, too, as Diplo posted it the same day as the first photos and trailer from her upcoming film Those Who Wish Me Dead were released. In it, Jolie plays a survival expert who is attempting to fight a forest fire all while protecting a teenage murder witness.

The trailer, which looks as high-octane thriller as it can get, was released today.

Could it all be a coincidence? Could Jolie and Diplo be an item? Is this some complex marketing scheme? Or were they just at the same place at the same time enjoying fresh meat and hot Cheetos? Is this even a real photo or is it totally Photoshopped? Is it merely a Jolie look-a-like?

Any of these could be true! Neither have addressed the situation, so let the speculation begin.

While they might make for a surprising romantic pair, Diplo does have a string of famous exes, including M.I.A., Katy Perry, Kate Hudson and even Too Hot To Handle's Francesca Farago. He also has two children with ex Kathryn Lockhart and one with model Jevon King.

Jolie's romantic history, on the other hand, has been a lot more public. She married and later divorced actors Jonny Lee Miller and Billy Bob Thornton. Her most high-profile relationship has, of course, been with Brad Pitt, whom she married in 2014. He adopted her three children at the time and, together, they had another three biological children. Jolie filed for divorce in 2019, and the pair are currently in an ongoing child custody battle.

Perhaps Diplo could make for a fun, brief detour? We can only imagine.
