Talk about feeling ‘Good As Hell.’

Maybe drunk texting isn’t always a bad idea after all. At least not if you’re Lizzo and your flirtation target is Chris Evans, at any rate. Because while this story may appear to be face-palming, cringe-worthy content, it has a happy ending.

It all started over the weekend when the “Good As Hell” singer revealed she’d had a few and flexed those texting fingers by sliding into Chris Evans’ DMs. “Don’t drink and DM, kids,” the Grammy-winner captioned a TikTok video that revealed she’d sent a bunch of emojis Captain America’s way. “The reason I’m upset about this one is because I know I’m not going to be able to marry him,” Lizzo lip-synced in the video to audio from Tatayanna Mitchell. “And honestly, it hurts me to the core. Because, damn papa, he a rare breed, no comparing. Like, Chris…”

So what was the DM itself? A simple wind emoji, a female athlete emoji, and a basketball emoji. In other words, Lizzo was invoking Hamilton himself and taking her shot.

Lizzo had sent the text at 5:22 p.m., and when she posted the original TikTok video Evans hadn’t yet responded. Then, a day later Lizzo updated fans with some happy news: Evans wrote back. “No shame in a drunk DM,” the actor wrote, adding a kissy-face emoji. “God knows I’ve done worse on this app lol.” Then, he followed Lizzo back on Instagram. (Does that make them “Instagram official?” Wink-face emoji, crying-emoji, face-palm emoji.)

Evans wasn’t kidding when he said he’s done “worse.” Fans can only assume he was referring to that whole NSFW photo he accidentally posted to his own Instagram last fall. For those who need a refresher, the photo basically revealed what was under Captain America’s shield. “Look, it was a very interesting weekend, full of lessons learned,” Evans later told TV host Tamron Hall on her talk show during his first interview following the post. “You know, things happen. It’s embarrassing, but you gotta roll with the punches,” he added. “I will say, I have some pretty fantastic fans who really came to my support. That was really, really nice.”

As for Lizzo’s crush on the Knives Out actor? Well this isn’t the first time she’s made her feelings known. Back in 2019 Evans had shared a video of a young girl dancing to Lizzo’s anthem, “Juice,” and captioned it, “This kid is cooler than I could ever hope to be.” When she saw, Lizzo hit him up in the comments. “Wow marry me,” she wrote with a shrug-face emoji.

To which fans may want to respond with their own shrug-face emoji. After all, both Lizzo and Evans are single, and these days people have connected in much stranger ways.
