Move over Kourtney and Travis, there is another surprising new pairing in Hollywood. It looks like actor Shailene Woodley and NFL star Aaron Rodgers are making a play for the title of ‘it couple’ and have their game faces on. According to E! News, the actor and athlete have been quietly dating long-distance for months. In Covid times, that could literally mean they are separated by a street, but in this case the pair really have been long-distance.

E! is reporting that Woodley and Rodgers have been involved romantically for some time. "They have kept things private and low key,” says a source, which is something that is relatively easy to do during a pandemic. "They have seen each other and been in touch. They continue to talk and see each other when they can. They are both focused on their careers but they also make time for each other."

News of the couple’s relationship was first rumored back in July 2020 by gossip writer Terez Owens. On July 15, Owens reported that Rodgers’ former girlfriend, Indy race car driver Danica Patrick, was the one who introduced her boyfriend to Woodley. According to Owens, Rodgers, 37, ended his relationship with Patrick to be with Woodley and the new couple were spotted together in Tahoe that month. Rodgers and Patrick dated for two years before confirming their breakup in July.

As for Woodley, she was in a relationship with rugby player Ben Volavola for two years but ended things after filming the relationship drama Endings Beginnings. Speaking to Bustle in April 2020, Woodley said she was not yet at a point in her life where she could fully invest in the couple’s relationship. “I realized I was still at an age where I wasn’t able to fully commit. I couldn’t be available to him in the way that I wanted to be. I didn’t fully love myself,” said Woodley, 29.

Making the 2020 film opposite Sebastian Stan and Jamie Dornan required the cast to improvise most of the dialogue, an exercise that forced Woodley to question her own relationship. “What improvising an entire movie does is forces you to be truthful in a way that even in your own life you’re not truthful,” said Woodley. “Because of that raw, vulnerable state we submitted to while performing these characters, I learned a lot about what was and wasn’t working in my personal life.”

Up until a few weeks ago, Rodgers was rooted firmly in Green Bay, Wisconsin where the Green Bay Packers quarterback was practicing and playing with his team, who were hoping for a spot in this week’s Super Bowl. On January 24, Rodgers and his team lost to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who will move on to Sunday’s Super Bowl.

Meanwhile, Woodley has reportedly been in Montréal where she is shooting the serial killer drama Misanthrope. Directed by Damián Szifron, who cowrote the script with Jonathan Wakeham, Woodley will play a talented but troubled police officer who is recruited by the FBI to help track down a killer. Woodley will star opposite Ben Mendelsohn and Jovan Adepo, who will both play FBI agents. The Divergent star is also a producer on the upcoming drama, which was sold at Cannes.
