Meghan Markle and Prince Harry dropped in for a surprise appearance at the Spotify Stream On event on Monday following their two massive announcements. On Valentine’s Day, the couple shared that they’re expecting their second child, and last week Buckingham Palace’s confirmed that the couple wouldn’t be returning as working members of the royal family.

Meghan and Harry made their surprise appearance from their couch in their Santa Barbara home to educate others about Archewell Audio and why they created the production company that will make podcasts exclusively on Spotify.

“We’re using podcasting to drive powerful conversations,” Meghan says, before Harry adds, “and inspire, challenge and educate.”

“We created Archewell Audio to make sure that we can elevate voices that maybe aren’t being heard and hear people’s stories,” Meghan says while wearing a gorgeous Oscar de la Renta dress.

“And the biggest part of this is to create this community of where you can share, that will encourage everybody else to then share their own vulnerabilities within that safe space,” Harry adds.

The Sussexes debuted their first podcast episode in December, featuring James Corden, Elton John, Naomi Osaka, Tyler Perry and, of course, their son Archie. The toddler wished listeners a Happy New Year at the end of the Holiday Special. The premiere episode featured appearances from people all over the globe, sharing their messages of hope and perseverance for 2021.

Activist Rachel Cargle, author Brené Brown and more celebs virtually joined Harry and Meghan to share “a collection of personal anecdotes and inspirational stories,” submitting audio diaries for the episode instead of arranging a huge Zoom call. “As we all know, it’s been a YEAR,” Harry said, “And we really want to honour the compassion and kindness that has helped so many people get through it.”

"You can speak into it," Prince Harry told Archie during the episode, "Archie, is it fun?" Meghan said, and Archie responds, "Fun?" Then Meghan repeated, "Fun!"

Archie needed a little help from his parents to wish their listeners a Happy New Year. "After me. Ready? Happy..." Harry said, and Archie repeats, "Happy." Meghan and Harry both said, "New..." And Archie completes the message, "New Year," while his parents cheer and he giggles. SO MUCH CUTENESS.

The couple announced the launch of their podcast in December. In their official joint press statement, they said, “What we love about podcasting is that it reminds all of us to take a moment and to really listen, to connect to one another without distraction. With the challenges of 2020, there has never been a more important time to do so, because when we hear each other, and hear each other’s stories, we are reminded of how interconnected we all are.”

“The Duke and Duchess of Sussex may live in California but the power of their voices rests in their status as citizens of the world,” said Dawn Ostroff, Spotify’s Chief Content and Advertising Business Officer. “That they are embracing the extraordinary capacity of podcasts on Spotify while also seeking to elevate underrepresented voices is a testament to their appreciation for the potential of audio storytelling. We are proud to partner with The Duke and Duchess and look forward to listeners hearing directly from them and the other creators that they will be elevating via our global platform.”

The Sussexes also signed with a talent agency last year and inked a major Netflix deal. We think it's safe to say that we'll be getting a lot of Harry and Meghan content this year and we're not mad at it.
