While this may not have been Kim Cattrall’s intention, her double click on a recent social media post has fans speculating on her opinion of the upcoming HBO Max Sex and the City revival And Just Like That. The reboot was announced on social media yesterday, which confirmed that only Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis would be reuniting. Cattrall publicly stated in the past that she would never return to the project and sparked controversy when she declined to participate in a third Sex and the City film.

However, the day after the series announcement, Cattrall liked a tweet where a fan celebrated her for doing what is best for you" and "putting yourself first".

The Sex and the City revival, And Just Like That, will air on HBO Max (available on Crave in Canada) and have Parker, Nixon and Davis reprising their original characters. It is reported that they will begin production in New York late spring. They will all serve as executive producers in the series and it has been reported that the actors are pulling in more than $1 million per episode to make the new, 10-episode season that explores the women navigating life in New York City in their 50s.

After six seasons (stream now on Crave) and two-spin off movies (which you can watch here and here), fans are eager to have more binge-worthy Sex and the City content, even if it will now only include Carrie Bradshaw, Miranda Hobbs and Charlotte York.

The new series announcement was revealed on social media yesterday with a very enigmatic clip of a bustling New York City street. The series has a few a-list super fans, including Reese Witherspoon, who commented “YESSSSSSS” and Andy Cohen, leaving the message “2021 LOOKING UP” on Sarah Jessica Parker’s Instagram post.

Parker’s social media announcement was flooded with comments from fans expressing disappointment over Cattrall’s absence. Parker responded to those comments with messages that include "We will too. We loved her so. X." and "She will always be there. And we are so excited. X.", which has quelled any rumours of continued animosity among the cast members. She has also denied any speculations of a feud replying to a comment with "No. I don't dislike her. I've never said that. Never would. Samantha isn't part of this story. But she will always be part of us. No matter where we are or what we do. X."

We couldn’t help but laugh at the fan fiction and speculations that have sparked on social media about how the show would explain the notable absence of the quick-witted Samantha Jones from the series.
