In what might be one of the more random and unexpected spats to kick off 2021, there seems to be trouble brewing between a couple Backstreet Boys.

Kevin Richardson and Brian Littrell, to be specific. The pair have one of the tighter bonds in the band, as cousins. That, and they've been performing together since the '90s.

Still, time is no match for politics.

Cut to Wednesday, when Richardson conspicuously tweeted out a Cosmopolitan essay titled "I Lost a Best Friend to QAnon." He captioned it, "Interesting read… 👀 ✌🏻 ❤️.”

Mere minutes later, Richardson upped the ante, tweeting another Cosmopolitan essay, this one titled, “The Unlikely Connection Between Wellness Influencers and the Pro-Trump Rioters." Here, his caption read, “Another interesting read… 👀 ✌🏻 ❤️.”

Aside from the fact that Richardson has great taste in magazines, it's worth noting QAnon is a disproven far-right conspiracy theory at a time when there are many of these circulating the internet. It alleges that cannibalistic pedophiles are running a global child sex-trafficking ring planning to overthrow U.S. president Donald Trump, who is waging a low-key war against them. You know, simple stuff.

If you're a devout BSB fan, you likely noticed Littrell tweeted, just days before, telling fans to join the controversial Parler app alongside him on the same day Trump was banned from Twitter.

Parler was banned recently, pretty much across the entire internet after last week's insurrection at Capitol Hill, as many believe it was planned through the app, which is popular among QAnon supporters and right-wingers.

All of which is to say, it seems incredibly likely that Richardson was sub-tweeting Littrell with his article recommendations, and taking a swipe at his bandmate. Those side-eye emojis tell a story.

In case you're hesitant to believe as much, Littrell has been passionately supporting Trump for much of his presidency. In fact, in 2017, he lamented not getting to play at his inauguration to TMZ, claiming they were unable to due to scheduling reasons. Insert side-eye emoji here.

“Hollywood needs to chill out, all right? You’re talking about the commander-in-chief, right? We’re talking about respect," Littrell said. “In my opinion he’s going to do so many great things for this nation, and even for the people who disapprove of him. Give peace a chance! I have faith in the system. I have faith in his character, his beliefs, and his balls. Let’s just put it that way.”

It seems, despite all that has happened since Trump's inauguration, Littrell's support has not wavered. And Richardson, who has actively been tweeting his disapproval of the Capitol Hill riot and the violence incited, isn't about to let him forget it.
