Halsey shocked her fans on Wednesday when she announced she’s pregnant with her first child. The “Without Me” singer shared the news on Instagram, posting three new photos debuting her baby bump.

The photos, shot by Sam Dameshek, were accompanied by the caption, “surprise! 🍼🌈👼🏻.” In two of the images, Halsey is topless only wearing acid-washed jeans with a white silk backdrop. Another shot features Halsey in a rainbow crochet bra looking as gorgeous as ever.

The “Bad at Love” singer tagged writer and producer Alev Aydin in the first photo from her pregnancy announcement. He shared the photo to his Instagram Stories with a bunch of heart emojis attached. Aydin and Halsey sparked dating rumours in early January when she posted a photo of him on her Instagram. They have yet to confirm or deny their relationship status.

Many friends and fans of Halsey began to comment on her Instagram posts after she shared the news. “Wow wow wow! Congratulations,” Ruby Rose wrote. Singer Tinashe wrote, “Woww congrats !!!!!” Gigi Gorgeous added, “CONGRATULATIONS angel of LIFE.”

Halsey’s fans took to Twitter to congratulate the singer on the amazing news.

Halsey's rainbow crochet bra and rainbow emoji may be pointing to her previous pregnancy loss, with this being her "rainbow baby," a term for a child born to a family that has previously lost a child due to miscarriage, stillbirth or death.

Last February, Halsey opened up about remaining optimistic about having a baby in the future after having three miscarriages. In a conversation with the Guardian to promote her album, Manic, she spoke about how she felt after a miscarriage. “It's the most inadequate I've ever felt," Halsey told the outlet. "Here I am achieving this out-of-control life, and I can't do the one thing I'm biologically put on this earth to do."

She continued, "Then I have to go onstage and be this sex symbol of femininity and empowerment? It is demoralizing."

Halsey, who was diagnosed with endometriosis in 2016, a painful medical condition where uterine lining grows outside the uterus, revealed that she still believed in her plans for motherhood regardless of her past experiences. "[It's] looking like something that's gonna happen for me," she said. "That's a miracle."

In April 2018, Halsey also opened up about a traumatic experience where she miscarried while performing on stage. "Before I could even really figure out what [being pregnant] meant to me and what that meant for my future, for my career, for my life, my relationship, the next thing I knew I was on stage miscarrying in the middle of my concert,” she told The Doctors

The "You Should Be Sad" singer also shared that she was in the process of freezing her eggs. “Doing ovarian reserve is important for me, because I’m fortunate enough to have that as an option, and I need to be aggressive about protecting my fertility [and] about protecting myself,” Halsey said during her appearance on the show.

“Reproductive illness is so frustrating because it can really make you feel like less of a woman,” she added. “You don’t feel sexy, you don’t feel proud, and you don’t feel like there’s much hope, so taking these measures to make sure that I get to have a hopefully bright future and achieve the things that I want to achieve by doing the ovarian reserve is really important.”

Halsey was forced to deny pregnancy rumours in November 2019 after she was photographed out with America Horror Story actor Evan Peters. Halsey and Peters both had their hands resting on the singer’s belly and fans were quick to speculate. She shut down the rumours on Twitter and blamed it on eating a stack of pancakes earlier that day.

“Still not pregnant. Still just allergic to gluten. Still love pancakes.” she wrote. “Is it a boy? Is it a girl? It’s pancakes.” she joked in another tweet. Later that day, she returned to Twitter, writing, “Pregnancy is a super sensitive subject. some celebrities are open about having any struggles with reproductive health. some are not. either way it seems really inappropriate to target someone and speculate about something so precious and personal.”

Congratulations on the amazing news, Halsey!
