Pete Davidson has decided that he's ditching his ink. The 27-year-old Saturday Night Live star is currently in the process of removing all of his tattoos, and his fans are not happy about the decision.
Film critic Mike McGranaghan broke the news when he tweeted a screenshot from a Q&A for Davidson's film The King of Staten Island. “Just attended a virtual Q&A with the Judd Apatow and the cast of THE KING OF STATEN ISLAND,” he wrote. “And here’s a scoop: Pete Davidson is in the process of getting all his tattoos removed!”
The decision behind the removal is due to the hours Davidson spends in the makeup chair. When a fan responded in disbelief, McGranaghan said, “No, it’s real. He even showed his hand, which is already done. He said it takes 3-4 hours in the makeup chair to cover them, so he figured ‘it would be easier to get them burned off.’”

Davidson has over 100 tattoos inked on his body, so the removal process will take some time. His tattoos include Hillary Clinton's face, a giant unicorn, the word "cursed" across the back of his neck, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, several Harry Potter-themed tattoos and many, many more. Some of his tattoos were tributes to past relationships with ex-fiancée Ariana Grande and ex-girlfriend Cassie David.
In a 2019 interview with Charlamagne Tha God, Davidson said he spent a lot of his time getting tattooed because "it's just a release." He said when he is manic and upset, getting tattooed was the only thing that would work for him. The actor also revealed that he used to self-harm in the past, and he cut his chest. "That's why I started getting tats on my chest, to cover them," he added.
Davidson fans can enjoy the tattoos while they last, but they've already rushed to Twitter to share their emotions about the SNL actor's permanent decision.
