Garrett Hedlund arrested for DUI earlier this year

Garrett Hedlund didn’t have such a great start to 2020. Months after it went down, publications are now reporting that the Country Strong actor and dad-to-be was arrested for a DUI nine months ago.Page Six first reported the news after obtaining documents from the Los Angeles County Superior Court. According to them, Hedlund was arrested and charged with two DUI offences in February, and he was arraigned and released after posting a $100,000 bond. The 36-year-old was then sentenced to 36-months of probation and three days of community service for one of the counts, and the second charge was dismissed.As per the court records, the TRON: Legacy actor was also ordered to complete a 30-day treatment program and to take a nine-month first-offender counselling program, which he did. “When the incident occurred, Garrett immediately sought treatment which was successful,” a rep for Hedlund told the publication on November 4. “Today, he is in a solid and great place.”According to a similar report in Us Weekly, at the time of his arrest Hedlund had a blood alcohol level four times higher than the legal limit. (He tested at 0.36 per cent, while the legal limit is 0.08 per cent.) The publication reports that he pled no-contest to the one charge that stuck, and he now has an ignition interlock device in his car that monitors his blood alcohol levels before the can drive. Hedlund will now head back to court on November 25 for a restitution hearing.This isn’t the first time Hedlund has been in trouble with the law: according to the Us Weekly article he was also arrested back in 2006 for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia in Idaho. At the time he had been pulled over for speeding and reportedly told police that he was driving his friend’s car.Last August Hedlund and his girlfriend Emma Roberts confirmed they are expecting a baby boy in a sweet Instagram post. “Me…and my two favourite guys,” the Scream Queens actor wrote, alongside photos of her cradling her baby bump and Hedlund wrapping his arm around her shoulder.Roberts and Hedlund have been dating since at least early 2019, when they were spotted holding hands in New York City. Previously Roberts was romantically linked to her American Horror Story co-star Evan Peters, while Hedlund previously had a very high-profile relationship with his On the Road co-star Kristen Dunst.Hedlund can next be seen in the upcoming Lee Daniels film The United States Vs. Billie Holiday, a movie that follows Holiday as she is targeted by the Federal Department of Narcotics with an underground sting operation. Hedlund stars as Harry Anslinger, a.k.a. the real-life official who served as the first commissioner of the department.
