For my birthday, Kanye got me the most thoughtful gift of a lifetime. A special surprise from heaven. A hologram of my dad. ✨? It is so lifelike! We watched it over and over, filled with emotion. pic.twitter.com/jD6pHo17KC

The hologram is incredible, to be sure. In the video, Kim’s dad wishes her a happy birthday and promises that he’s looking over her every day. “Sometimes I drop hints that I am around like when you hear someone make a big peeface or when you make a big peeface,” the hologram says before dancing to The Edsels “Rama Lama Ding Dong.” Later, he also praises Kim’s decision to follow in his footsteps and become a lawyer, and reveals that she is an incredible mother who “married the most, most, most, most, MOST genius man in the whole world, Kanye West.”While many fans approved of the video and shared how much they would give to see a hologram of their own late fathers, others still have a sour taste from Islandgate. Especially given how much money the trip, and now the hologram, must have cost. As many pointed out in the comments, there are so many who have been hit really hard financially and emotionally by what 2020 has doled out so far. For them, Kim sharing the video just felt like another tone-deaf move.I can’t even describe what this meant to me and my sisters, my brother, my mom and closest friends to experience together. Thank you so much Kanye for this memory that will last a lifetime ✨ Here’s a more close up view to see the incredible detail. pic.twitter.com/XpxmuHRNok

Kim Kardashian getting a hologram of her dead dad while millions of Americans didn’t even get to tell their parents goodbye or go to their funerals thanks to COVID is too on the nose.

I did something similiar for my friend's birthday, though i didn't have money for a hologram so I just dug up his dad's corpse instead

I'm sure the 230,000 Americans who died from Covid would love to bring joy to their families with a hologram. I suspect you and Kanye could pay for that given the millions of dollars you got in PPP money. I'm filled with emotion just thinking about it since those folks DIED ALONE

I have no issue with Kanye giving Kim Kardashian a hologram of her dead dad for her birthday. That said, after one roasting for her total inability to read the freaking room, she doubled down, posting this at a time when folk aren’t able to say goodbye to their loved ones. pic.twitter.com/ivPt8Qm2Ni

What really seemed to sit with people most though is just how narcissistic Kim’s “most, most, most, most, MOST genius husband” might actually be. While some defended Kanye as joking in order to bring some levity to an otherwise heartfelt message, others were just not having it given Kanye’s history.. While Kim Kardashian was having her island/hologram dad party. I was having unsettling dreams about my dead parents before waking up to no power and iced over car before going to my job where I made $89.68 for the day. Who is the real winner? #fundlibraries

KANYE USED A HOLOGRAM OF HIS WIFE’S DEAD DAD TO CALL HIMSELF A GENUIS HAHAHAHA
— Mike ? (@LFC_Mikeee) October 30, 2020
This was an odd but sweet sentiment until the hologram said “you have married the most, most, most, most, MOST genius man in the whole entire world...” and then it just lost me. Kanye’s using family to fulfill his narcissistic impulses now? Yikes

Most people are familiar with Robert Kardashian as O.J. Simpson’s famed friend who reinstated his law degree in order to help Simpson during his first murder trial. Kardashian passed away 17 years ago, in 2003, two months after being diagnosed with esophageal cancer. Kim was 23 years old at the time and she has often spoken about her father since. So while the internet may continue to be divided over this (and pretty much everything the personality does), there’s no doubt this gift was super meaningful to her.[video_embed id='2064857']RELATED: Kim K dragged online for her extravagant private island b-day[/video_embed]If my son in law ever make a hologram of me saying my daughter was married to a genius I'm coming beyond the grave to strangle him.
