Emmy Rossum isn’t taking any crap from anybody. Fans heard that message loud and clear in the early hours of October 8, when Rossum shot back at a hater who threw shade at her online over her body.It all started when Rossum went on Twitter to say that she couldn’t wait to get her “I’m Speaking” t-shirt. It was a reference to the many, many times that Senator Kamala Harris had to ask VP Mike Pence to stop speaking over her during Wednesday night’s vice-presidential debate. Apparently, one Donald Trump supporter had an issue with Emmy's sartorial request because they commented, “Yeah, your shirts that say I GET PAID TO GET NAKED ON TV are sold out.”Luckily, Rossum had the perfect response. “I get paid to tell stories and life sometimes involves this awesome thing called sex,” she wrote. “Maybe you’ve just never had any so you don’t know.” It's a little petty, but hey, a woman's got a right to protect her body. Before you cue the slow claps, the actor wasn’t done either. The Golden Globe nominee fired out another post that could basically serve as the poster for body positivity. “When I say something Trump supporters hate, they love to come at me for my body,” she wrote. “They seem to think I should be ashamed of my female naked body. I don’t feel shame. I love my body. That must be intimidating for them. I’m not sorry.” Rossum starred on Shameless (watch now on Crave) as Fiona Gallagher for nine seasons, earning a couple of Critics Choice Television Awards nominations for the role along the way. She talked on multiple occasions while on the series about how proud she was to portray Fiona as authentically as possible, including in intimate scenes."It doesn’t make sense that the character would wear a bra and care at all about what she looks like when she’s having sex,” Emmy said in 2011. “Sex is meant to feel good, and she wants to feel good. Her life is so sh---y in so many ways. Some people use alcohol, some people use gambling—and some people use sex."[video_embed id='2051348']MORE DEBATE NEWS: These were the top four trending topics from the Vice Presidential debate [/video_embed]Rossum opted to leave the series in 2018, in what she revealed was a very emotional decision. "The opportunity to play Fiona has been a gift. There are few characters—female or otherwise—as layered and dynamic. She is a mother lion, fierce, flawed and sexually liberated,” Rossum said in a goodbye message. “She is injured, vulnerable, but will never give up. She is living in an economic depression, but refuses to be depressed. She is resourceful. She is loyal. She is brave. I knew it the second I read the pilot script, this was different, this was special.”Since leaving the series, Rossum has been pursuing new opportunities, including directing. She sat in the director’s chair for an episode of Prime Video’s Modern Love, building up her resume which also includes a couple of Shameless episodes and an episode of Animal Kingdom. She's also focusing on her production company, Composition 8. The company’s next project will be the Peacock miniseries Angelyne, a story based on The Hollywood Reporter’s investigative article identifying the mysterious titular L.A. billboard icon. Rossum stars in the leading role, and her husband, Sam Esmail (Mr. Robot), executive produces.[video_embed id='-1']BEFORE YOU GO: Raccoon wearing a dress eats a pear with his hands [/video_embed]
