Right now, we find ourselves at an important moment in historyone which, hopefully, will continue driving meaningful change to unite communities and dismantle systemic injustice. As people around the world take to social media to amplify and listen to black voices, share resources and inspire action, celebrities and people with considerable platforms are stepping up to the plate in a big way. Joining the ranks of countless celebs and powerful figures who have recently pledged funds to Black Lives Matter initiatives, P.K. Subban donated $50,000 to the GoFundMe page set up for George Floyds 6-year-old daughter, Gianna. The New Jersey defenceman announced the donation in a video he shared to Twitter on June 3 with a simple (but impactful) caption: "Change the game." In the video, Subban goes on to explain,Change the game means change the narrative. The narrative has been the same, no justice  but there needs to be justice. Change needs to come. We need everyone. I want to turn my attention to Gianna, George Floyds 6-year-old daughter, Subban continued. I know that she has a GoFundMe page and this morning I donated $50,000. Adding to that, Subban revealed that the NHL has agreed to match his pledge for the cause.[video_embed id='1970188']RELATED: How music's biggest names are showing solidarity for protests[/video_embed]Fans were quick to commend the athletes efforts, with one user writing that he represents atremendous leader in this movement.Subbans pledge comes on the heels of a viral video shared of Floyd's daughter Gianna who, on the shoulders of her fathers close friend and former NBA player Stephen Jackson, spreads her arms and announces proudly, "Daddy changed the world." In the video, a voice behind the camera responds, He did what? and Gianna, smiling, repeats, Daddy changed the world.Subbans donation also follows yesterdays news of actors who have played TV cops donating to bail funds and organizations that combat racial injustice. Started by Griffin Newman, who pledged $11,000 to Community Justice Exchange through ActBlue, his donation was matched by Brooklyn Nine-Nine star Stephanie Beatriz. Beatriz and B99 showrunner Dan Goor later announced a $100,000 donation to National Bail Fund Network in honour of George Floyd.[video_embed id='1970253']RELATED: Keke Palmer’s empowering talk with National Guard goes viral[/video_embed]
