During the COVID-19 global pandemic, we’ve seen celebrities offer all kinds of advice that has ranged from the cute to the absurd. From Madonna telling us to eat fried fish, and Gal Gadot and friends singing John Lennon’s ‘Imagine’ for some reason, to JoJo and Neil Diamond singing to us about staying home and washing our hands, it’s been quite a mishmash of guidance.  Some of it may be wise, some not so much, but yesterday a gaggle of Canadian celebrities formed a massive thread on Twitter with one goal in mind: amplify Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s message of staying home and self isolating. That’s it. Simple. But so important.Yesterday, the big JT posted a video to his Twitter account, filmed presumably from his home where he is self isolating after his wife Sophie Grégoire Trudeau tested positive for COVID-19, instructing people to stay home. “Now is not the time to be hanging out in parks or hosting dinner parties,” he said. He then tagged Michael Bublé and Ryan Reynolds, asking them to spread the word (not the virus). Naturally Bublé stepped up, saying, “Please, if you can, if at all possible, stay home. It will save lives.” He in turn tagged Jann Arden, Justin Bieber, and Oilers hockey player Connor McDavid to join the thread. Ryan Reynolds, for his part, decided to film a video just like the PM. “Thank you Prime Minister Trudeau, we need to work together to flatten the curve,” he said quite seriously before turning on that famous VanCity Reynolds charm.“I think we all know it’s the celebrities we count on most,” he quipped. “They’re the ones who are gonna get us through this . . . right after healthcare workers of course. First responders. People who work in essential services. Ping pong players. Mannequins? They’re great. . . . look stay at home!” He then tagged Seth Rogen, Steven Page of the Barenaked Ladies, and Constable Terry Reynolds of the RCMP (who is also Ryan’s brother). And off the thread went.In a country with as many political parties and allegiances as Canada, it’s possible that PM Trudeau’s message wasn’t heard by a large portion of the population. So if celebs with a lot of sway can just amplify his message, that can have a massive impact on public health. You may not like the idea of staying home, but it’s Truuuuu(deau).[video_embed id='1927549']While you're physical-distancing: Get a thrill from home by visiting Canada's Wonderland virtually[/video_embed]
