Six moments you might have missed from the Globes

We’re sure you saw Sandra Oh tear up thanking her parents, Jeff Bridges’ rambling speech about trim tabs and tag and Lady Gaga’s truly exceptional ball gown, but did you catch what Emma Stone yelled in the middle of the hosts’ intro? Or what Chrissy Metz may or may not have said about Alison Brie on a hot mic?

That’s what we’re here for.

Here are six very important things you may have missed at the Golden Globes Sunday night.

1. That’s one way to apologize

ICYMI, whitewashing has been an issue in Hollywood pretty much since the dawn of time (yes, seriously). At the Globes, Oh addressed modern whitewashing early on by quipping that Crazy Rich Asians is the first film to feature an Asian-American lead since Ghost in the Shell and Aloha (which notably featured white women Scarlett Johansson and Emma Stone respectively as Asian characters).

That joke landed pretty well, but what you might have missed was a faint voice at the end of the audience reaction yelling “I’m sorry!” That was Emma Stone, apologizing for playing a half-Hawaiian character. This sn't the first time she apologizied but considering she told the L.A. Times it wasn't planned, we're going to accept this apology as genuine.

2. A harness but make it fashion

Timothee Chalamet is a modern male style icon and in his pursuit of ever-higher fashion domination, the actor may have hit a bit of a snag. He skipped his characteristic floral suit (which we love BTW) and opted instead for a Louis Vuitton bedazzled harness?

Oh sorry, the brand wants you to call it an “embroidered bib.”

People had a bit of a field day with it on Twitter because, welcome to the internet.

3. Chrissy Metz vs. Alison Brie … but probably not

With all the hot mics and hot drama at awards shows, it’s a miracle any celebrities are friends with one another. Early in the night, there were reports that This is Us star and sweet person Chrissy Metz called Glow star Alison Brie “such a b--ch” while on the red carpet.

Thankfully, before things could get too out of hand, we heard both Alison and Chrissy’s sides of the story. A reporter asked Alison about the alleged comment and the actress responded that she knows Chrissy and can’t imagine why she would say something like that.

Chrissy responded to the drama via Twitter, saying she would “never say a bad word about [Alison] or anyone else.” Chrissy added that she hopes Alison knows she wouldn’t talk about her that way.

So we can count this resolved, yes?

4. Bond met Bond

Speaking of awkward interpersonal relationships, Daniel Craig and Idris Elba had a weird moment when the Current Bond met the rumoured New Bond. Elba has been very coy about the public consensus that HE SHOULD PLAY THE NEXT JAMES BOND (and even denied it) but he’s always giving us little reasons to believe it could actually happen someday. Like this post from his meeting with Craig where it looks like he just ran into the guy whose job he’s taking.

5. We see you, Fiji Water Girl

Is this our first hustle icon of 2019? While celebs were posing for photos and chatting to reporters about their projects, Fiji Water Girl was out here smizing for every camera and executing some of the most elegant photobombs we’ve ever seen.

With how quickly her antics went viral, she can probably expect her own spread in Vanity Fair by the spring We'll be watching out for you, Kelleth Cuthbert.

(Also, well played, Fiji, well played).

6. When your brother doesn’t even tell you he’s an actor

Did you know Kieran Culkin was nominated for an award Sunday? Well, his brother Macaulay sure didn’t. He live-tweeted the Globes red carpet and some of the ceremony, seeming surprised at every turn that his brother was there.

After Keiran lost out to Ben Whishaw for Best Supporting Actor in a Limited Series, Macaulay decided to give up on the show altogether, opting instead to watch Alvin and the Chipmunks.

We would expect nothing less from a big brother.
