Taylor gets back on track, Carrie makes a comeback, Zayn is getting it on with a Gigi lookalike and more…This is your Top 5 Countdown for best new music of the week.

5. Taylor Swift

As Taylor continues rehearsals for her upcoming Reputation world tour, the artist also acknowledged her country roots this week by dropping not one, but TWO acoustic songs that harken back to the OG Tear Drops on My Guitar days. The first is an acoustic version of Delicate. This seems to be her favourite track considering there are now two recorded versions and two alternate videos. The second is a unique cover of Earth, Wind, and Fire’s September. Both tracks were recorded live at the Tracking Room Nashville, which she visited over Easter weekend, even playing a surprise gig.

4. Carrie Underwood

Carrie Underwood has had a tough year after a harrowing fall that left her with 40 - 50 stiches in her face. Thankfully, the country singer recently took to her personal website to update fans on her recovery and posted a picture of her rapidly healing face. For her comeback, she released Cry Pretty Wednesday with an accompanying lyric video.

3. Zayn Malik

Zayn dropped a steamy video this week for his song Let Me. There’s a lot to unpack here. The Miami Vice vibes are strong with Hawaiian floral shirts, yachts and suitcases of money being tossed around. There’s also a minor plotline, with Zayn taking a crack at acting (yikes) and a simmering romance with a Gigi Hadid lookalike. The model, Sofia Jamora, and the singer roll around in a make-out session, later speeding off across the ocean with a “To Be Continued” title. The only thing we want to continue is Gigi starring in Malik’s videos! *Sniffle.

2. Cardi B

If it seems like Cardi B is EVERYWHERE, it’s because she is. After dropping her album Invasion of Privacy, she hosted SNL and then co-hosted The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon Monday. It was on Fallon where she performed her new track Money Bag for the first time. With her visible baby bump draped in gold chains and rocking a short blonde wig, the mom-to-be crushed the performance.

1.  Janelle Monae

Janelle Monae released her music video for PYNK, the third single off her album Dirty Computer. Featuring Grimes (not shown), both the song and video celebrate everything femme. A review in Nylon magazine credits the vid for speaking “to the universality of feminine energy, and how it exists in all of us regardless of the BS gender binary.” Also, Janelle and her dancers perform in vagina-pants designed by Duran Lantink, so there’s that too.
