'Crazy Rich Asians' director Jon Chu weighs in on friend Justin Bieber’s wedding

Jon Chu and Justin Bieber go way back. He directed Justin’s 2011 documentary Justin Bieber: Never Say Never, and now he’s weighing in on his friend’s upcoming nuptials to Hailey Baldwin.

“The funny thing is, Justin has his own style. He likes a lot of privacy too, I think that’s what people don’t know, even though he’s very out there, he does his thing,” Chu says in a new interview with etalk.

And while he admits that Bieber “definitely likes his intimacy and private times,” he’s thinking bigger.

“He has a lot of famous friends that can sing and do crazy [stuff]… Scooter Braun’s wedding (Justin’s talent manager) which I was at…he had Ed Sheeran sing their first song and Ed Sheeran stayed on the stage and started rapping with Tom Hanks, Justin Bieber, Carly Rae Jepson there, all up there,” he reveals. “It was like insane, so I’m sure he’ll take he’ll take some tips from Scooter more than myself,” he muses with a smile.

Bieber proposed to model girlfriend Baldwin in July after the duo reconciled a month earlier. The couple has been involved on and off since 2014. Since news of their engagement broke, they’ve been inseparable.
