George Clooney was left hanging when he initially proposed to wife Amal, the actor reveals to Ellen DeGeneres today.
While promoting his new film "Hail, Caesar!" the actor describes how he planned out his whole proposal, cooking dinner, playing specific music in the background, and hiding the ring behind her.
"I've got it all set up, timed out, and the song is coming, and she gets up to go wash the dishes, which she's never done," George jokes. "She comes back in. And finally, I blew out the candle, I said 'I think the lighter's in the box behind [you].' She reaches around, she pulls out the box and I've got just the ring sitting in there. And she pulls it out and she looks at it, and she's like 'It's a ring.'"
After then getting down on one knee and telling her how he couldn't imagine the rest of his life without her, Amal apparently still wasn't convinced.
"Because there was a playlist, we know how long it actually took," George says. "And it's like 25 minutes. And I finally said 'Look, I hope the answer is yes, but i need an answer because I'm 52 and I could throw out my hip pretty soon if I don't get an answer. And then she said 'Oooh yes.'"
