Justin Bieber was destined for a cameo in "Zoolander 2" -- even if he didn't know it.
Appearing on "The Tonight Show" Monday night, star Ben Stiller told Jimmy Fallon how Bieber was part of the script since he began working on it years ago.
"He's a very important part of the plot," Stiller says. "He was always in the script. We wrote it, the first script, in 2010, but he was young, new Justin Bieber. And now he's this cultural lightning rod."
As Zoolander and Hansel deal with being eclipsed by younger, edgier supermodels, they're drawn into an investigation by interpol agent Valentina, played by Penelope Cruz.
As she explains, "Someone's trying to kill the world's most beautiful people."
And that includes JB!
Stiller fully gets that with Bieber's popularity, his short-lived role will elicit some reactions.
"So his death in the movie, people fill it with their own [meaning]," he says. "Sort of like a Rorschach test for them."
Stiller had nothing but good things to say about working with the Canadian superstar, however.
"He was great, he totally committed."
"The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" airs Monday to Friday at 11:30pm ET on CTV Two.
